About KCLA

The original concept for the KCLA began in 1995 with Won J. Kim and Julia Shin Doi.

A steering committee was then created in 1996 to oversee the formal organization of the KCLA.  The members of the 1996 steering committee were: Peter Choe, Jin Y. Choi, Ellie Choi, Won J. Kim, Angela Kim, Helen and Michael Park, Beth Seo, Julia Shin Doi and Maria Yang.

The KCLA was formally incorporated by Jin Y. Choi as a non-share capital corporation in 1997.  Its purpose was to serve the needs of legal professionals of Korean descent living and working in Canada.

The objects of the KCLA include:
  1. The promotion of professional and social interaction between its members;
  2. The promotion and advancement of the well-being of the Korean Canadian community;
  3. The promotion of legal education to members of the Korean Canadian community; and
  4. The promotion of understanding and awareness of the nature of the legal profession.
